Madeleine Horrocks is a dual-qualified English and Italian lawyer with a broad finance and capital markets practice. She advises banks, corporates and financial institutions active in the European financial markets, in particular in Greece and Italy. Her practice covers many types of lending and capital markets work, with a particular emphasis on securitization, NPLs, covered bonds, impact finance and ESG, derivatives and secured lending.

She regularly represents arrangers, lead managers, swap counterparties, issuers and trustees on capital markets matters including ESG bonds and state guaranteed securitizations. She is also considered a sustainable finance pioneer thanks to her years working with social responsibility lenders and clean tech borrowers on sustainable finance transactions in the developing world.

She has been based permanently in Italy since 2003.

Assistance to Piraeus Bank on the sale of a €350 million NPE portfolio to an entity managed by Waterwheel Capital Management, LP.

Assistance to Attica Bank on both its merger with Pancreta Bank and the subsequent €672 million share capital increase and associated warrants issuance.

Assistance to Attica Bank on €1.4 billion HAPS securitisation originated by ex-Pancreta Bank (pre-merger with Attica Bank).

Assistance to Iccrea Banca on its first €500 million senior preferred green bond.

Assistance to Santander and Jefferies, as joint lead managers and arrangers, on an inaugural PLN 1.38bn cash EIF and EIB backed securitisation of auto leases originated by VEHIS.

Assistance to Santander on first consumer loans securitization by Admiral Italia, valued approx. €150 million.

Assistance to Kommunalkredit Austria AG on HoldCo financing for SG Holding.

Assistance to funds and accounts on a financing transaction providing up to €300 million in debt financing over the next few years in favour of Wide Group.
