Alexander Tablan is a litigation associate who represents clients in complex disputes and regulatory matters arising under California’s unique and ever-evolving environmental and consumer product laws.  He has extensive experience advising and defending companies across the food and beverage, apparel, and dietary supplement sectors in matters involving Proposition 65, greenwashing, chemical disclosures, product labeling, and violations of California’s consumer protection statutes.  Alex regularly counsel clients through every stage of Proposition 65 enforcement actions—from pre-suit investigations and risk mitigation to litigation strategy and settlement negotiations.

In addition to his litigation practice, Alex advises clients on compliance obligations under emerging Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regimes across the United States, with a particular emphasis on California’s SB 54.  He regularly counsels businesses at the intersection of packaging, recycling, and chemical disclosure laws, and also assists with participation in agency rulemakings.  Drawing on his science and policy background, as well as his deep understanding of California’s environmental and consumer protection frameworks, Alex develops strategies to help clients meet their compliance obligations and adapt to California’s evolving regulatory requirements.

Alex obtained his J.D. at the University of California, Berkeley, where he served as a teaching assistant for legal research and writing and as a senior articles editor for the Ecology Law Quarterly.
