Sian has particular experience in matters arising from major construction projects, including disputes under the ICC and SIAC Rules, and regularly advises on public procurement challenges and dispute avoidance.
Sian has also spent time on secondment in Tokyo with a leading heavy industrials company, where she advised on contract drafting and interpretation, pre-dispute claims management, and various forms of dispute resolution.
Acting for an EPCM contractor in ICC arbitration proceedings arising from the design, construction and construction management of the world's largest petrochemical facility in the Middle East.
Advising a Japanese contractor in an intra-consortium SIAC arbitration over the construction of a coal-fired plant in South East Asia, including claims for delay, disruption, and prolongation.
Representing an employer in ICC arbitration proceedings arising from the construction of a polyethylene plant in the Middle East, with claims of over US$100m.
Advising a Japanese company in respect of a payment dispute concerning the operation and maintenance of a rapid transit system in the Middle East.
Representing a UK government body in a procurement dispute arising from one of the UK's largest public procurement competitions.
Advising a heavy-industrials contractor on the avoidance of a threatened bond-call and associated dispute in respect of a natural gas-based urea green fertilizer project in Bangladesh.
