Sara Segura is an associate in Hogan Lovells Restructuring & Special Situations group in London. Sara’s clients include clearing banks, private equity funds and challenger banks. She has experience in general banking transactions but specialises in domestic and multi-jurisdictional debt restructurings. She also focuses on all aspects of distressed debt and special situations. 

Representative experience

Advising private equity funds in leveraged buy-outs of distressed businesses (including in the defence, mining, nuclear and pharmaceutical sectors).

Advising incoming lenders and investors in relation to distressed debt purchases, including the completion of legal due diligence into key assets.

Acting for lenders in refinancings, including advice on subordination and security position and, if acting for outgoing lenders, dealing with release documentation.

Acting for clearing bank on amendments to finance and intercreditor arrangements and intercompany debt regulation tied to capital injection from customer group in automotive sector.*

Advising clearing banks on restructuring aspects of BBLS, CBILS, CLBILS and RLS schemes, including delivering training, drafting internal guidance and handling ad-hoc queries.*

Acting for the Department of Education in connection with refinances following the reclassification of further education colleges to the public sector*

Advising both lenders and borrowers on their restructuring and refinancing options in the context of maturing Future Fund loans*

Acting as shadow counsel to private equity funds in preparing debt reviews prior to investments being concretised.*
