Kai Schlesinger is a member of our Strategic Operations, Agreements and Regulation (SOAR) practice group, advising clients on a wide range of regulatory and commercial matters, with a particular focus on issues at the intersection of innovation and sustainability. His practice includes product-related regulatory requirements and complex contractual issues, especially in areas shaped by the energy transition and clean technologies.

Kai supports companies in navigating evolving legal frameworks, with a focus on cutting-edge technologies such as electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, battery systems, and renewable energy solutions. He advises on regulatory obligations under key EU legislation, including the EU Battery Regulation, the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, and the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation, with particular attention to circularity requirements and sustainability standards. His work spans the full product lifecycle—from market entry strategy and regulatory compliance to the legal structuring of innovative business models.

In addition to his regulatory work, Kai drafts and reviews commercial contracts across the supply and value chain. His contractual work often relates to product development, supply, and distribution arrangements, with a particular focus on aligning commercial goals with regulatory requirements.

Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Kai earned a Master of Law in Corporate Law from Stanford, where he also gained exposure to the dynamic clean tech startup ecosystem. In addition, he completed a three-month legal traineeship in a major law firm in New York.
