Employment Bite | UK Employment Rights Act

The UK Employment Rights Act marks a landmark moment for the employment law landscape. After nearly 15 months of debate, the House of Lords gave its final approval on 16 December, paving the way for the most significant changes to individual employment rights in a generation. The new provisions will be introduced gradually, with changes taking effect throughout 2026 and 2027.
In this instalment of Employment Bite, London employment lawyers Stefan Martin and Katharine Savage discuss the UK Employment Rights Act and what employers should do to prepare for it, highlighting the changes to individual employment rights in the short, medium and longer term, based on the government's “implementation roadmap”.
