Karishma, a senior dual qualified Solicitor and Barrister has specialist expertise in complex product liability, product recalls, medical devices, clinical trial claims, digital health, and commercial claims and disputes. Karishma has accumulated wide-ranging experience in co-ordinating and project managing global multi-party group action litigation strategies and cross-border liabilities, particularly products claims emanating from the consumer, pharmaceutical and automotive product industries over the past 20 years. She has also advised on UK/EU regulatory and risk assessments to leading manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies.
Karishma is a Co-Chair of the Hogan Lovells Multi-Cultural Network and takes pride in working collectively towards strengthening our culture and practice. She is a pioneer for seeking to promote women in the tech sector. Karishma also regularly participates in pro bono work by serving on the Steering Committee of a unique six-month soft skills and collaborative mentoring programme for young people with a tougher start in life. Karishma has been recognised by Legal 500 for several consecutive years as a ‘Rising Star’ and ‘Recommended Lawyer’ for Product Liability Defence work.
Karishma is a prolific writer, publishing many articles and several book chapters (over 150 publications) and regularly provides webinars and corporate presentations on a wide range of topics including emerging technology risks and liabilities, product liability, group actions and life sciences. She is the acting Chair of IUA’s Developing Technology Monitoring Group. In 2025, Karishma created and co-hosted a successful three-part insurance focused pilot series of the Influencers Podcast in collaboration with the IUA.
Representative experience
Acting for world-leading global pharmaceutical companies across multiple jurisdictions in relation to the supply of allegedly defective products to customers in the life sciences sector.
Acting for a global automotive group in relation to a group action regarding diesel emissions claims concerning alleged defeat devices in diesel vehicles sold in the United Kingdom.
Advising on clinical trials claims.
