Since opening in 2000, Hogan Lovells’ Milan and Rome offices have grown into a hub for complex cross-border work, now comprising around 170 lawyers, including 32 partners. The firm has achieved standout growth in recent years, welcoming more than 50 lawyers in the past 18 months alone.
This investment has driven significant market recognition and financial success. In FY 2024, Hogan Lovells’ Italian offices generated revenues of approximately €60 million, up 20% year-on-year. The firm is now widely recognized as a market leader in corporate, finance, private equity, capital markets, and restructuring, alongside its strong practices in regulatory, IP, TMT, litigation, tax, employment, and arbitration.
Miguel Zaldivar, CEO of Hogan Lovells, commented: “Our bold bet on Europe is anchored in our FRIS strategy – France, Italy, and Spain. Italy has been a standout success story, transforming into one of our global growth engines and a hub for complex sophisticated cross-border transactions. In today’s geopolitical and economic environment, clients need strong, fully integrated teams in mature markets. Our Rome and Milan offices exemplify this approach, combining top-tier local talent with one of the most powerful international platforms in the market.”
Patrizio Messina, Managing Partner for Italy, added: “Twenty-five years in Italy is a testament to our long-term commitment to this key market. We have established ourselves as a leading international firm here, and we are proud to be home to such talented lawyers who choose our global platform to best serve their clients’ ambitions. What makes our offices stand out is not just our ability to capture top client work, but also our focus on culture, collaboration, and talent development as we plan ahead for the next 25 years.”
The anniversary was marked with a client event at the firm’s Rome office, celebrating its achievements and vision for the future in Italy and beyond. A further celebration will be held in Milan in December.
