Led by Dr. Carla Luh and Stipe Bojanić, global law firm Hogan Lovells has advised the borrowers VIRTUS BERLIN1 GmbH and affiliated entities on the financing of their first data centre in Germany.

The new campus in Berlin Marienpark, comprising the four data centre buildings BERLIN1, BERLIN2, BERLIN3 and BERLIN4 will provide an IT load of 57.6 megawatts. The data centres are designed for hyperscale, government and enterprise customers and will offer a range of hosting and cloud services.

VIRTUS Data Centres is an award-winning pure-play data centre operator providing state-of-the-art colocation services across Europe. Founded in 2008 and headquartered in London, the company is regarded as one of the leading data centre providers in the UK. VIRTUS develops and operates energy-efficient, highly resilient data centres, focusing on sustainable and scalable infrastructure for hyperscalers, enterprises and the public sector.

Hogan Lovells provided comprehensive legal advice to VIRTUS on all financing matters and supported the company throughout the entire complex and innovative transaction, which represents the company's first international campus development financing and only its second campus financing overall. Additionally, the transaction represents an important step in implementing VIRTUS’s international financing strategy.

“The financing of VIRTUS's first German data centre is a significant step towards the company's further expansion in Europe. We are proud to have supported VIRTUS in this project and contributed to strengthening Germany's digital infrastructure”, says Dr. Carla Luh, Partner and Head of the German Finance practice at Hogan Lovells.
