Lance Y. Murashige
Partner Litigation, Arbitration, and Employment
Lance has represented companies ranging from small tech startups to Fortune 500 companies in matters ranging from headline-grabbing multi-district data breach litigation to confidential, high stakes FTC investigations regarding the use and development of emerging technologies such as face recognition and generative AI. Regardless of the client or nature of the dispute, Lance first works to understand his client’s objectives and then helps the client find creative and efficient paths to achieving those objectives.
Lance also applies his litigation skills to provide pro bono advocacy for his Washington, D.C. neighbors. He has represented classes of D.C.’s homeless families who sued to enforce their rights to appropriate shelter and who sought to remedy alleged errors in the administration of their SNAP benefits. For these efforts, Lance was awarded the 2016 Lois G. Williams Extraordinary Service Award by the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless and the 2019 Klepper Prize for Volunteer Excellence by the Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia.
Lance is also the owner and lead instructor of D.C. Judo, a D.C.-based martial arts dojo. Prior to his career as a lawyer, Lance was a high school math and technology teacher in Nanakuli, Hawaii teaching calculus, algebra, and robotics.
