Lara Knight is a qualified barrister with substantial litigation experience. Her practice includes litigation in relation to a wide range of sectors, including the life sciences and automotive sectors, in both individual claims and group actions. Her experience includes being part of the team that successfully defended the Metal on Metal hip implant group action in the High Court, and she is currently defending an international automotive client in the ongoing diesel emissions UK group action, one of the most significant consumer collective actions ever to come before the English courts.  

Lara also advises clients in respect of Coroner’s inquests relating to their products.  Clients rely on Lara to navigate the particular complexities and sensitivities associated with matters involving the death of an individual.  

She drives the day-to-day management of matters, proficiently advising on strategy and risk management and ensuring the smooth and effective progress of matters. With an undergraduate and postgraduate degree in science, Lara is regularly instructed on matters with complex medical, scientific, and technical issues, which she grasps quickly and effectively. 

Representative experience

Assisting with the defence of a number of claims, including a threatened group action against a knee implant manufacturer in the UK.

Lead associate on a large-scale consumer greenwashing group litigation, relating to diesel emissions actions in the UK.

Assisting a number of pharmaceutical clients with inquests and individual claims in relation to their products. 

One of the Junior Counsel in the team that successfully defended the Metal on Metal hip implant group action in the High Court.*
