Julian has been with the firm since 2007 and is a partner at Hogan Lovells' Frankfurt office and a member of the International Debt Capital Markets practice group.. Julian has extensive experience in the field of structured finance and alternative investments (including both securitisation and fund structures, or a combination of both). He also advises on national and international restructurings and start-ups in the regulated financial services segment. His experience is recognized by recommendations as a "Frequently Recommended Lawyer" by JUVE, Legal 500 and Best Lawyers.
Julian advises banks and investors on loan and derivatives portfolio sales (including NPL financing) and acts on both the seller and buyer side. He advises banks (in particular with regard to agency and trust functions), financial service providers and trading companies in the context of securitisation transactions and other refinancing transactions as well as on the development and structuring of the underlying portfolios, such as securitisation-eligible credit, mezzanine and profit participation certificate portfolios.
Julian also has extensive and long-standing experience in the field of restructuring financing, in particular in connection with financial market stabilisation measures. He also has extensive experience in the field of real estate financing restructuring, including the integration of rescue acquisition structures.
Julian also possesses comprehensive expertise in financial regulation at both the national and European levels. He advises banks, financial institutions, and other financial service providers on reorganisations and related regulatory issues.
Advising Nord/LB on the sale of their entire portfolio of aircraft loans with an aggregate nominal value of EUR 1.67 billion to Deutsche Bank as part of a competitive bidder process.
Advising a financial advisor on setting up a debt fund securitisation structure under Luxembourg and German law, including the issuance of structured notes.
Advising several German regulated institutional investors on a cross-border bond restructuring and the successful litigation against the developer of one of Berlin's largest real estate projects.
Advising an international investment bank on acquiring distressed real estate financings from a German bank, including the structuring of loan-to-own strategies and RETT-blocker structures.
Advising a German fund manager on establishing a debt fund structure for acquiring non-performing loans from banks (rebound platform), including regulatory advice on NPL backstop regulation.
Advising a Luxembourg credit fund on restructuring of mezzanine financing for three German properties, including negotiating deferral measures and developing a loan-to-own strategy.
Advising Volkswagen Financial Services AG on the sale of significant parts of its global financial services business relating to the MAN and Volkswagen Truck & Bus brands to TRATON Group.
