Dr. Johannes H. Schmees advises national and international clients in all legal matters regarding information technologies, data, privacy and media. His practice focuses on legal issues relating to digital business models and emerging technologies.

Drawing from his particular knowledge and experience in the EU digital regulation landscape, he manages complex legal implementation projects, drafts and negotiates contracts and agreements and advises and represents clients in litigation before public authorities and courts. In addition, he has comprehensive experience in German and European public law. 

Before joining the firm, Johannes studied law at the University of Münster, the University of Geneva and the University of Heidelberg and earned his doctorate in law from the University of Hamburg. During his legal traineeship, he focused on legal aspects in the contexts of AI, data and media and worked on related issues in both academic and practical settings such as the Division for General Digital Policy at the German Federal Chancellery.
