Current Geopolitical Developments in the US and LatAm and the Role of International Dispute Resolution

As part of the Berlin Dispute Resolution Days, join us for an engaging panel discussion on insights and strategies for managing challenges at the intersection of business, politics, and dispute resolution.

Amidst disruptive trends and geopolitical volatilities, companies need security in insecure times. This relates not only to sourcing, but to the entire supply chain and the overall investment, including the resolution of disputes and the trust in the rule of law.

Our panel first takes stock of the recent rapid developments in global trade, politics, and trade policies – including the termination of certain agreements and the introduction of new taxes and tariffs – by focusing on the Americas and Europe.

We then discuss how these developments are affecting business conditions and the political environment at large, and international market participants specifically.

Finally, we address what else is likely to come, and how businesses adapt to the ever-changing trade conditions. Companies are rethinking their global supply chain strategies to remain competitive and flexible. Existing trade agreements and strategies are put to the test.

Panelists:

  • Senator Norman B. Coleman, Jr., (Washington, D.C.)
  • Professor Dr. Rolf J. Langhammer, (Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW))
  • Elizabeth Hincapié Hincapié, (General Counsel, Toshiba Railway Europe GmbH, Düsseldorf)
  • Pablo Strada, (Senior Legal Director International Trade, Techint Group, Buenos Aires)
  • Daniel E. González, (Partner, Hogan Lovells, Miami)
  • Karl Pörnbacher, (Partner, Hogan Lovells, Munich)

The panel will be moderated by Thomas N. Pieper (Counsel, Hogan Lovells Munich/New York).

Before we start, we invite you to a light lunch on the rooftop terrace overlooking the city (weather permitting). Participation is free of charge. Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Hogan Lovells takes over the flat-rate taxation by § 37b EStG.

Don’t miss this opportunity to gain practical guidance for today’s complex global landscape. We look forward to welcoming you!

Kind regards,

your Hogan Lovells Team
