Webcast: China Case Law Update – A New Dawn for International Companies Fighting Bad-Faith Filings

In November 2019, a revised Trademark Law of China came into force. Since then, the China National Intellectual Property Administration and the China courts have focused their efforts on stemming the flood of bad-faith filings in China, and on imposing sanctions against trademark pirates including administrative penalties, injunctions, and monetary damages. The China Case Law Update – A New Dawn for International Companies Fighting Bad-Faith Filings, will take a closer look at the strategies for fighting bad-faith filings from both a prosecution and litigation perspective.

Hogan Lovells IPMT Partner Helen Xia has been invited as one of the speakers. Helen together with other speakers will address trendsetting cases and discuss their relevant fact patterns. Additionally, speakers will discuss how international companies can navigate the China trademark law system to minimize their intellectual property (IP) risks to a manageable level. Special attention will be given to the role of bad-faith intent and how it factors into tipping the balance and pushing the boundaries of the current legal regime in China.

This webcast, intended for a global audience of brand legal practitioners, will provide insider analysis on key decisions rendered by the China courts and administrative authorities over the last 18 months on the hot topic of bad-faith filings.
